Aviation News Around Lake Norman

Welcome to my Aviation page!

Since I am a Pilot and a Real Estate Agent, I wanted to combine my passions and assist other aviators in their search for airpark properties in the Charlotte NC area.

My first  flying lessons were on my dad's lap in his J-3 Piper Cub when I was just a Tot!  My dad passed away when I just graduated high school so I went on to do 'girl' type jobs as my mother called them.  She could not afford to send me to flight school, so I paid my way through college and I began working as a Medical Secretary and later I was hired on to work for the hosptial Administrator.

While all of this taught me wonderful business management skills, my love for flying continued to brew inside.  I finally looked into the military route by interviewing witht he Air National Guard Flight Program.  I was told at the time that I needed a four year college degree and I only had an Associate Degree.  Hence, began my pursuit of flying.

I quit my job at the hospital and started back to college.  I worked two jobs while in college to 'get by'  while I made straight A's in my major which was Business Administration - Management.  I graduated Cum Laude and I re-interviewed with the Guard only to find out that I had just missed the 'cut-off age'  for the flight program.  You can imagine my dismay!

Now out of college, some family and friends were interviewing with USAir and asked me to join them.  We had the idea that we would apply for Flight Attendant jobs and enjoy our time traveling the country together!  Well this was the impetus that I needed.  I interviewed and was hired!  I was now on an airliner surrounded by flight crew, ground crew, dispatchers, passengers and weather!  This was the perfect place for me to be inspired and motivated to pursue my piloting career.

I began flying in 1990 and  I received my Private Pilot Certificate in 1991.  I went on to attain my Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot Certificate, Certified Flight and Ground Instructor Certificates (CFII,MEI & AGI).  I enjoyed flight instructing and sharing my love for aviation with others.  I was then fortunate to be able to share my compassion and love for people with my love for flying by flying Angel Flight Missions and later I became an Air Ambulance Pilot.  I was flying Cessna 340's, Piper Navajo's, Cheyenne, and the LearJet.  Once I gained enough flight experience, I received my Air Transport Pilot Certificate and my Flight Engineer rating and I was off to the airlines!  I felt that I had somehow come full circle to have worked as a Flight Attendant where I gained important Customer Service skills and the knowledge of emergency procedures to becoming a Pilot with full responsibility over the flight's passengers and crew in my charge.

I married my husband and pilot, Robert and we have a beautiful daughter, Nicolette.  This was a life changing event for me.  I made the decision to stay at home and raise my daughter.  You can imagine how difficult it was with both my husband and I both flying away from home 17 - 20 days a month and having to leave our child.   We made the decision to relocate and build on property that we had purchased in NC for our 'retirement'.  Once again, our love for flying was at the top of the list, so we chose to live in a local Airpark community located here on Lake Norman.

Once my daughter was in school, I went back to school too and earned my real estate license in 2005.  I enjoy helping my clients, buyers and sellers alike.  Our homes are one of the biggest purchases we make in our lives.  I take my responsibilities seriously and work to help my clients experience a smooth real estate transaction.  I combine the detail orientedness of my pilot profession with the customer service skills of my flight attendant job  and the business operation skills of my education and hospital administration experience.  I strive to give 5 Star service to my real estate clients!
